Effects of Reduced Risk-Insecticides on the Soybean Natural Enemy Community Material and Methods

In 2005, five insecticide treatments and a control were replicated six times using NK S24-K4 RR soybeans. Soybeans were planted in plots measuring 4.6 m by 27.4 m on 22 May, 2005. Weed control was attained by two applications of Roundup Weather Max. All foliar insecticides were applied on 2 August, 2005, using a backpack sprayer and hand boom. Rates for seed and foliar applied insecticides can be found in Table 1.

Soybean aphids were sampled once every week starting at the beginning of July and ending at the end of August. Soybean exposure to soybean aphids (cumulative aphid days) was calculated after foliar insecticides were applied.
