Beneficial Bug Cards

The University of Wisconsin Integrated Pest Management Program has produced two full
color cards depicting various natural enemies of cole crop insect pests "Good Guys in the Insect
World". These 4-1/4 x 6-1/2" cards feature four photographs of natural enemies on each side with
accompanying explanatory text.

One card (above) highlights common parasites: the wasps Cotesia glomerata and Pteromalus
puparum, and the fly Voria ruralis that attack imported cabbageworm; the wasp Diadegma
insulare that parasitizes diamondback moth larvae, and wasps that parasitize aphids and produce
aphid mummies.

The other card (above) focuses on the predators and diseases of cabbage pests: lady beetles,
ground beetles, lacewings, syrphid fly larvae, cabbage looper virus and Bacillus
thuringiensis.
Small quantities of the cards are available from the MBCN Editor.
