We are pleased to have Dr. John Masiunas join the MBCN team as the new subject editor for weed biocontrol. John has been the State Extension Specialist for weed management in fruit and vegetable crops at the University of Illinois since 1986. He received a B.A. in biology from Clark University in Massachusetts and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in horticulture from Purdue University.
His research is focused on the interaction of weeds and their management on other pests (insects and plant pathogens). Some of his current projects are studying the impact of high-residue, reduced tillage systems on pests and yields of cabbage, snapbeans, and pumpkins; weed management thresholds in snapbeans; and weed management systems for pumpkins.
