The 1995 Keep Michigan Beautiful Continued Excellence Award was given for Praxis' program to eliminate pesticides from Allegan Public Schools. The project, initiated in 1992, eliminated a highly pesticide-resistant population of cockroaches from food service areas in the Allegan Public Schools by utilizing nematodes in bait stations and wasp parasitoid releases. Last year the company received a Special Recognition Award from the Michigan Environmental Health Association for this cockroach suppression program, as well as their community-based gypsy moth control and leaf composting programs in the city.
