Special Purple Loosestrife Issue |
|
| This issue of MBCN is focused on purple loosestrife, a beautiful,
but noxious introduced weed that infests many waterways throughout the Midwest and Northeast. Considerable effort has been devoted to classical biological control of this plant in recent years. Population declines have been detected in some localized areas due to the impacts of biological control agents being released and established in these areas. Although purple loosestrife is currently an important weed pest, hopefully in the future it will be one more good example of successful biological control. |
