Scott ChapmanWisconsin Pest Management Center and USDA IR-4 ProgramScott conducts, evaluates and reports field research on control tactics for insect pests of field and sweet corn, and soybeans at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station. Research-based efficacy results are generated for chemical control tactics (soil and foliar applied insecticides, seed treatments) and host plant resistance (Bt corn hybrids) within an IPM context. Results are analyzed and evaluated over multiple growing seasons and conditions through the field crops entomology research/extension program providing objective pest management efficacy data to UWEX county faculty and Wisconsin growers within an IPM context. Scott co-authors the Wisconsin Pest Management Center's annual report. The annual report is a collaborative effort between Scott Chapman (field and vegetable crop entomology), Dan Heider (vegetable crop weed management), and R.S. Perry (Cranberry pest management). As IR-4 researcher, Scott coordinates and conducts research trials using certified Good Laboratory Practice standards under the USDA CSREES/ARS IR-4 program http://ir4.rutgers.edu/. In this role, Scott helps meet Wisconsin and North Central Region needs for safe and effective pesticides (conventional and biopesticides) for specialty crop producers, including minor use registrations on major crops.
