CALS Newsmakers: Eileen Cullen on Insect Resistance to GM Crops

Entomologist Eileen Cullen is an expert on integrated pest management, field and forage crops, and conventional and organic agriculture.

Cullen is among a group of concerned scientists that wrote a letter to the EPA in March 2012 warning about the spread of recently discovered populations of corn rootworm that are resistant to genetically engineered corn, and urging the organization to take steps to discourage the spread of this menacing pest.

Fruit Crops in Wisconsin May Suffer Substantial Frost Injury This Spring

The remarkable heat during March has brought most perennial crops out of dormancy approximately one month ahead of schedule.  Apple buds are swelling, even showing green tips.  Cranberries, too, have shown evidence of bud development. 

Prof. Brunet Launches Redesigned Website

Her website describes her research and lists some of her publications.  The research page includes information on her three primary research areas: gene flow by distinct pollinators, hybridization between native and invasive elm species, and transgene spread.
